If you organise meetings, then you should take minutes. Documenting discussions and recording actions for the attendees is still as important as ever. | ![]() |
Even in today's hectic digital world we still need to record minutes during meetings. Why?
For the Record: It is important to document the key points of the meeting and decisions made. It provides a forum for attendees to confirm and/or update the record.
Outcomes: Should the meeting have outcomes then the actions need to be documented, who is responsible, and when is the action due. Individuals typically will attend to these actions if they see their name attached.
Communication: It is an easy way to communicate to those that were absent and other in the organisation who need to know what transpired in the meeting.
Legal: In certain cases, minutes can have legal standing if the meeting relates to a contract. In business this could be a meeting between a company and its customers or suppliers.
Even though we live in a fast-paced digital world capturing meeting minutes is still an essential business process. There are some great digital tools that make this easy.
DM me and I'll send you a PDF on how to efficiently (speedily) capture minutes using Outlook Email, Outlook Calendar, OneNote, Teams and CoPilot.
